Marked by His Name

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30

This piece is rooted in identity.

At the centre is the heart, alive, layered, and marked. Not marked by failure or fear, but by belonging. His name is stamped upon it, not as a label of pressure, but as a seal of love, ownership, and promise.

Inspired by the whole of Ephesians 4, the work reflects the tension of transformation: learning to live in a way that aligns with who we already are. The call of the chapter is not condemnation, but maturation, an invitation to shed what no longer fits and to grow into the fullness of a new self.

The presence of the Spirit is portrayed not as something easily lost, but deeply entrusted. Sealed does not mean controlled; it means kept. It means chosen, protected, and held for redemption.

This painting gently challenges the viewer to consider how we carry what has been placed within us, not from fear of failure, but from reverence for identity. It is a reminder that we do not strive to earn belonging; we live from it.
